PETSCII.org will document every glyph in Commodore’s character ROM, with interactive charset explorers, the technical history of why these symbols existed, and curated galleries of character-based artwork from the 8-bit era. A reference for researchers and a gallery for the curious.

Before Windows, there was BASIC. This online museum exhibit traces how a single 6502 interpreter, licensed to a dozen manufacturers, became the lingua franca of an entire generation — and why dropping users straight into a programmable prompt mattered so much.
